How Long Does It Take for a Google Review to Show Up?

A review that doesn't appear straight away isn't necessarily lost — Google's checks can hold a genuine review back for hours or days before it ever reaches your profile. Here's what causes the delay, what to check, and when it's worth following up.

Most reviews appear within minutes — some take longer

When a customer submits a Google review, it usually shows up on your profile within a few minutes to a few hours. Google doesn't publish a guaranteed timeframe, and a smaller share of reviews take noticeably longer — sometimes several days — while automated checks run in the background.

If a review a customer swears they left still isn't showing after a day or two, it's rarely something you did wrong. It usually means the review is sitting in a queue, not that it's been rejected.

What actually causes the delay

Google runs every new review through automated spam and policy checks before it's published, and a few things tend to trigger a closer look:

  • The reviewer's Google account is brand new, has no profile photo, or has little history — Google is more cautious with reviews from accounts that look freshly created.
  • The review text includes a phone number, email address, URL, or language that trips a content filter, even innocently.
  • A sudden burst of reviews arrives in a short window — a QR code on a busy night or a review-request campaign can occasionally slow individual reviews down while the batch is checked.
  • Your Business Profile itself has a recent policy flag or is mid-verification, which can affect how quickly new content on it gets processed.

What to check before you assume it's stuck

  • Ask the customer to confirm they pressed "Post" and saw a confirmation — reviews are sometimes started (photo attached, stars selected) but never actually submitted.
  • Check they were signed into the same Google account when reviewing as when they check back — a review posted from a work account won't show if they later look while signed into a personal one.
  • Look at your profile from a signed-out or incognito browser — Google occasionally shows a reviewer their own pending review before it's visible to everyone else.
  • Confirm your Business Profile isn't currently suspended (Business Profile Manager will say so clearly) — a suspended profile can hold up everything, not just one review.

When it's worth contacting Google

If a genuine review still hasn't appeared after about a week, it's reasonable to raise it through Google Business Profile support rather than keep waiting. Have the reviewer's name, roughly when they posted, and a screenshot if they have one — it speeds up the conversation.

Avoid asking the customer to delete and repost the review to "fix" it. Repeated attempts from the same reviewer in a short window can look like spam to Google's systems and make the delay worse, not better.

Frequently asked questions

Not directly — there's no way to push a specific review through faster. The best you can do is make sure the reviewer used an active, established Google account and avoid anything that reads like a bulk request, which tends to slow batches down.
